As you know, Be My Eyes is a global community home to 180+ spoken languages. It is our priority that both the app and the Be My Eyes webpage be as inclusive as possible, particularly where language and communication is concerned. Language can pose a challenge in blind and low vision communities, but we intend to rid the Be My Eyes app of any barriers. Be My Eyes is currently developing localized webpages for the Be My Eyes website and adding subtitles to the company video. It is our hope that both non-sighted and sighted people, who aren’t English speakers, have greater access to learning and understanding what Be My Eyes and our services are all about. But we can’t do it alone! You can help us translate the Be My Eyes webpage and our video into your native language. At the present moment, we are inviting native Thai, Turkish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Cantonese speakers among many others to join in on making Be My Eyes’ message available to even more people. If you would like to contribute, we kindly ask that you make an account in CrowdIn, hop on and start the translations. A few tips: Keep the language as simple and down-to-earth as possible, and don’t sweat the little things. Just like a Be My Eyes call, another volunteer can tag team a translation sentence or phrase if you can’t decide on the best way to say or write something in your language. Benevolence is what fuels the power behind the Be My Eyes community, so join us and give your two cents!
