Starting this week, users can enter our lighthearted competition. If your experience is chosen you’ll win a monthly prize and we’ll work with you to share your unique use cases through our channels. Our initial prizes will be gift cards with a value up to $ 200.00, and look for more later this year.
Our new “Can You Top This?” friendly competition has been created to give you a monthly chance to share your unique and innovative Be My Eyes stories, and win prizes for doing it.
Entering is easy. After you finish a session with a volunteer or Be My AI, you might receive an email containing a link to a form. You can immediately fill out the page and submit it, or if you want to submit your experience later, simply go to this link. Either way, each month we’ll select the most promising submissions and follow up with you at the email address you provided.
Joining each month’s contest is free. We will only notify you through email if you have been selected as a winner. You can learn more about our new contest in the FAQ section of our website.
Every month, the most interesting Be My Eyes experiences will be chosen directly by an internal Be My Eyes team. We will select two winners every month, for the most innovative Be My AI and Be My Eyes Volunteer interaction. Winners will be selected among the people entering who have agreed to participate in the contest.
To become a “Can You Top This?” winner, you will need to share with us one of your recent Be My Eyes or Be My AI experiences. Our team will select the most interesting, unusual and original stories. If you’re selected, we’ll contact you to share them with the Be My Eyes community.
Since we first launched the Be My Eyes app back in 2015, we have read many remarkable accounts worthy of this new prize. One of them is Mike’s story, the blind farmer that uses Be My Eyes to take care of animals and plants at his farm. He once used Be My Eyes to find a runaway chicken and together with one of our dedicated volunteers, he found it.
There’s also James’ story, who is using Be My AI to look at weather radar and get access to all the data he needs for his hobby as a weather spotter. Something we never thought was possible!
Users keep surprising us with ingenious uses. Like the volunteer who helped a homeowner relight their hot water heater. Or AI reading electrical schematics or giving the value of a resistor. Or the new resident in a community who used a volunteer to describe the layout of the housing development he just moved into. There are a hundred new uses every day. Your story will encourage others to use Be My Eyes in new and useful ways.

Though we’ve handled millions of volunteer calls since we started in 2015, in March, 2023 Be My Eyes introduced new ways for our community to interact with our app: That’s when we launched Be My AI, our AI assistant powered by GPT-4, now describing more than a million requests each month. AI has been elegantly integrated into the existing Be My Eyes app, alongside our already successful volunteer experience through which our users get in touch with over 7.3 million volunteers worldwide, in the language they prefer. All of these ways to interact with the Be My Eyes app creates many new creative opportunities to give and receive visual assistance. Our mission is to ensure that people who are blind or have low vision worldwide know about the power and utility of our descriptive ecosystem and use it in any way that makes sense to them.
