Social distancing and quarantine measures are still in place in many areas around the world, meaning we have to do our best to keep our minds and bodies active and healthy while we stay home. Some individuals have had to find ways to stay active by watching online workout videos, but not all of them are necessarily accessible for individuals with visual impairments.

Luckily, the Brazilian Paralympic Committee has taken the initiative to provide weekly workout sessions designed specifically with different disabilities in mind, with audio description for those designed for individuals with visual impairments. Whether you’re a professional Paralympic athlete or someone still trying to touch your toes, these are helpful activities most individuals can do to stay active throughout the day.

The next set of workout videos are coming soon, and we couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with the committee to provide an entirely unique Specialized Help experience for Portuguese speakers around the world!

From today, the Comitê Paralímpico Brasileiro will be available for Portuguese speaking users with visual impairments across most Portuguese speaking countries including Brasil, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay for assistance staying physically active from home. A Portuguese speaking personal trainer skilled in training individuals with disabilities is available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM GMT-3 every weekday to provide personalized training assistance.

“This is a fantastic example of how Be My Eyes can be used by corporate and nonprofit partners,” said Will Butler, VP of Community at Be My Eyes. “Everyone knows video coaching and remote exercise classes are the new normal – so why shouldn’t this be accessible to people who are blind or have low vision, as well? We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the CPB for taking this big step and offering this service on such a broad scale.”
